Siteworks Laborer Jobs in Ferrisburgh, VT at Birdseye
The Laborer is responsible for assisting crews with site preparation, trenching, grading, utility installation, erosion control, and general construction activities. This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and supporting equipment operators and skilled tradespeople to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with excavation, trenching, grading, and site preparation activities.
- Load, unload, and transport tools, materials, and equipment.
- Perform manual labor using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, levels, and compactors.
- Assist equipment operators by signaling, spotting, and maintaining safe work zones.
- Set up and remove traffic control devices, barricades, and safety equipment as needed.
- Maintain clean job sites, equipment, and work areas.
- Follow safety procedures, including trench safety and utility locating requirements.
- Assist with pipe installation, backfilling, compaction, and final site restoration.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of tools and equipment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific requirements.
- Complete other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and take constructive feedback.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred
- Previous experience in excavation, construction, utility work, landscaping, or related field.
- Experience operating small construction equipment and power tools.
- OSHA 10 certification or other construction safety training.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods.
- Work in trenches, uneven terrain, and active construction environments.
- Ability to work extended hours and occasional weekends as needed.
Work Environment
- Outdoor construction and excavation sites.
- Exposure to dust, mud, noise, machinery, and changing weather conditions.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, reflective vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

- $20-25 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
