We are seeking a qualified and experienced SHE Coordinator to join our client’s team in Somerset West and take ownership of the implementation and management of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) systems across the organization.
The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, foster a strong safety culture, and drive
continuous improvement
initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Management
Oversee and implement the company’s comprehensive HSE policies, ensuring full compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
Develop and enforce SHE policies, procedures, and programs across all departments.
Conduct regular risk assessments with line management and update the risk register accordingly.
Coordinate incident and accident investigations, implement corrective actions, and ensure completion of incident documentation.
Maintain the SHE appointments register, ensuring correct appointments, competencies, and accountability.
Perform regular safety inspections and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
Manage and monitor the company’s emergency response plans and preparedness.
Ensure compliance for hazardous work activities through permit-to-work systems, including hot work procedures.
Contractor & Supplier Safety
Approve contractor safety files prior to site access.
Monitor contractor activities to ensure legal and procedural compliance.
Training & Awareness
Identify training needs to support HSE objectives and ensure effective staff awareness and participation.
Occupational Health
Oversee and monitor the company’s medical surveillance program.
Manage and report on the Workmen’s Compensation process and documentation.
Regulatory Compliance
Maintain and update the company’s legal compliance register.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, such as the Department of Labour, on all SHE-related matters.
Ensure proper SHE document control in line with management system requirements.
Environmental Management
Lead resource conservation programs, including waste reduction, energy conservation, and sustainable operational practices.
Manage on-site waste management (general and hazardous waste).
Monitor environmental impacts and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and environmental impact assessments.
Minimum Requirements
NOSA SAMTRAC Certification
Certified in Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
Certified in Incident Investigation
Experience in a manufacturing/operational environment
