I am recruiting fluent Sesotho speakers to join an exciting language data collection project supporting the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

As a Language Data Collector, you will record natural Sesotho conversations that will contribute to the development of speech recognition and language technologies.
Responsibilities
- Record clear, natural Sesotho conversations according to project guidelines.
- Ensure recordings meet quality standards.
- Organise and upload audio files as instructed.
- Communicate regularly with the Project Coordinator.
- Maintain confidentiality throughout the project.
Minimum Requirements
- Native or fluent Sesotho speaker.
- Good communication skills.
- Smartphone with a good-quality microphone.
- Reliable internet access.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Professional, reliable, and committed.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former university student or graduate.
- Applicants with qualifications or studies in Humanities, Social Sciences, Languages, Linguistics, Education, Journalism, Communication, Sociology, Law, or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Comfortable using WhatsApp, Google Drive, and email.
- Previous experience in data collection, research, or language-related work is an advantage, but not required.
Payment
This is an independent contractor opportunity.
Compensation is based on approved project contributions and will be explained during onboarding.
