Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Write detailed repair orders and accurately document vehicle issues using estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Communicate effectively with technicians regarding diagnostics, repairs, and estimated timeframes
- Upsell additional maintenance services such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, suspension work, or alignments to maximize customer value
- Provide clear explanations of recommended repairs and costs to customers, ensuring transparency and trust
- Manage cash handling procedures and process payments efficiently while maintaining accuracy
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and promote repeat business through excellent customer service
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Service Writer or in auto service management within a dealership or automotive repair shop
- Strong mechanical knowledge with familiarity in automotive diagnostics, transmissions, air brakes, shocks & struts, and other key systems
- Hands-on mechanic experience or familiarity with automotive repair processes is highly desirable
- Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers of all backgrounds
- Experience in auto estimating, collision repair, or automotive service sales is preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive company vehicles as needed
- Knowledge of dealership operations, auto service procedures, and cash handling protocols
