Reporting to the Field Services Manager, you’ll take ownership of installations, servicing and commissioning of boiler and burner systems from start to finish — from BOMs and panel design through to startup, client training and site reporting. You’ll travel to sites locally and occasionally internationally, and act as a technical point of contact for clients between visits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to breakdowns, identify upselling opportunities on site, and follow through on potential sales
  • Draw up Bills of Materials for projects and liaise with Stores on procurement
  • Design panel drawings and layouts, liaising with panel builders on drawings and approvals
  • Review cable and materials specifications for installations (cable trays, glands, consumables etc.)
  • Carry out burner modification and retrofits, panel-to-burner testing and simulations ahead of installation
  • Handle startup and commissioning, including travel locally and internationally as required
  • Liaise with clients on travel arrangements, accommodation and site readiness ahead of visits
  • Provide remote advice and support to clients via phone, Whats App and site groups, and deliver on-site equipment training
  • Complete site reports, quotes and invoicing, and process paperwork with Accounts
  • Perform software updates/downloads on site systems and conduct site surveys for new, non-Autoflame sites
  • Mentor junior technicians during installations, and contribute to service department sales targets

What You’ll Need

  • B Tech, M Eng or N Dip in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4–8 years’ experience in an industrial/engineering environment (advantageous)
  • 3–4 years’ experience installing burners and boilers, ideally including green energy applications
  • Working understanding of boiler and burner systems, commissioning, and the ability to issue COC certificates (advantageous)
  • Basic electrical knowledge (ELC1 and ELC2)
  • SANS 329 / SANS 347 accreditation advantageous
  • Computer literacy across the Office Suite and MS Teams; exposure to Accpac and/or Xero is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving ability, a customer-first attitude, and willingness to travel
  • Clear written and verbal communication, able to explain technical detail to non-technical clients
