Position:  Service Desk – System Technician – Day Shift (6 Week Contract) – Pipeline

Location: Parowvallei

JOB PURPOSE

The primarypurposeof this role is to manage and execute a critical project that involves phasing out existing antivirus software and implementing a new solution across our network ofPoint of Sale (POS) systems. The Systems Technician will be responsible for ensuring a seamless transition with minimal impact on operational efficiency and the highest level of security compliance. This role requirestechnical proficiency, strongproject managementskills, and the ability to work effectively after hours to avoid disruption to daily business activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT (5%)

Develop a comprehensive project plan for the antivirus software transition, including timelines, resources, and risk mitigation strategies.

Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure all necessary components are in place for a successful rollout.

TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION (60%)

Perform detailed analysis of existing antivirus solutions to understand current configurations and potential challenges in the migration process.

Install and configure new antivirus software onPOS systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.

Migrate settings, policies, and other relevant data from the old antivirus system to the new platform.

Conduct thorough testing to validate the functionality and effectiveness of the new antivirus solution.

REMOTE SYSTEM ACCESS AND MANAGEMENT (20%)

Utilize remote access tools to securely connect toPOS systemsafter hours for software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Ensure adherence to security protocols and best practices during remote access to safeguard sensitive data and system integrity.

DOCUMENTATION AND REPORTING (5%)

Maintain detailed documentation of the migration process, including configuration settings, changes made, and any encountered issues.

Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, highlighting milestones achieved, challenges faced, and steps taken to resolve any issues.

USER TRAINING AND SUPPORT (5%)

Offer training and support to end-users and IT staff on the new antivirus software, ensuring they are familiar with its features and functionalities.

Address any post-migration issues promptly and provide ongoing support to ensure system stability and security.

SYSTEM MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCEOPTIMIZATION(5%)

Proactively ensure that the client’s systems and infrastructure are maintained to the highest levels.

Proactively address any potential issues swiftly and effectively.

Ensure all journal entries are accurate.

Monitor and evaluate application performance.

Identify bottlenecks and devise effective solutions.

Uphold robust security practices and implement backup and redundancy strategies to ensure the integrity and reliability of our systems.
