Position: Senior UX Designer – Websites (CE2BD0E)
Referment is partnering with a leading global financial services organisation to support the hire of a Senior UX Designer based in Cape Town. This role is specifically focused on the design and optimisation of large-scale, public-facing websites, not apps, internal tools, or product platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a business-critical digital channel, shaping how global users discover, navigate, and engage with a complex, content-rich website. You will work closely with UI Design, Product, Content, and Engineering teams to define and deliver best-in-class website experiences, from discovery through to implementation and ongoing optimisation.
The Role
You will take ownership of the website UX function, leading research, defining information architecture, mapping user journeys, and producing high-quality UX deliverables that guide both design and development. Key responsibilities will include:
Discovery & Research
- Lead user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing, heuristic reviews)
- Analyse website performance, user behaviour, and analytics data
- Identify pain points and opportunities across key user journeys
- Translate insights into clear, actionable UX recommendations
Information Architecture & Experience Design
- Define IA, site maps, taxonomy, and navigation structures
- Develop end-to-end user journeys and content discovery flows
- Facilitate workshops (journey mapping, requirements gathering, prioritisation)
- Align closely with product, content, and SEO teams
Wire framing & Delivery
- Produce low- to mid-fidelity wireframes and prototypes using standard UX tools
- Collaborate closely with UI designers and engineers
- Present work to stakeholders and drive alignment
- Ensure UX intent is carried through to development
Optimisation & Continuous Improvement
- Use analytics, testing, and user feedback to continuously improve the website
- Contribute to long-term UX strategy for content and conversion journeys
Experience Required
- Ability to work from the Cape Town office 4 days per week
- A strong portfolio showcasing your expertise in designing large-scale, public-facing websites from concept to completion
- Experience must be clearly focused on web design, not mobile apps, internal tools, or product platforms
- 5+ years of UX experience, with your most recent roles specifically focused on UX design rather than UI or branding
- Confident running research and usability testing independently
- Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility (WCAG 2.1+)
- Comfortable working autonomously in fast-paced environments
- English language is a must as you will be working with a global team
Nice to Have
- Experience with in financial services or a similarly regulated environment
- Experience with content-heavy websites and CMS-driven environments
- Familiarity with GA4, Hotjar, or similar analytics tools
- Understanding of SEO and its relationship with UX
