They are seeking a skilled Senior Technical Project Manager to manage and execute technological projects directly on-site at client locations, with a primary focus in South Africa. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact projects that drive innovation and efficiency within the mining industry.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects, ensuring alignment with client needs and business objectives.
Coordinate resources, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project implementation, on time and within budget.
Interface directly with clients, serving as the primary point of contact, and ensuring consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage the deployment of technology solutions, including machinery operation, sensor integration, and data interpretation, particularly in challenging on-site environments.
Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, leveraging your hands-on expertise in mining and heavy machinery operations.
Utilise project management methodologies and tools to monitor project timelines, risks, and milestones.
Oversee the procurement process, ensuring that materials, equipment, and technology are sourced efficiently.
Experience and Educational Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, specifically within the mining, heavy machinery, or similar industrial sectors.
Proven track record of managing technical projects from conception to implementation, particularly in on-site environments.
Strong experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing timelines effectively.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and align project outcomes with client expectations.
Hands-on experience in deploying technology solutions in remote or difficult environments, including integrating sensors and interpreting data.
Ability to identify and solve complex technical issues, especially in machinery operation and related technology solutions.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field. A specialisation in mechanical engineering is advantageous.
Advantageous Skills
Expertise in data analysis, particularly related to mining and processing assets.
Experience in condition monitoring, vibration analysis, thermography, and lubricant analysis within heavy industrial settings.
Proficiency in project management software and data analysis tools.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in industrial environments.
A professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent is highly desirable.
