Fixed-Term Contract (12 Months) | Mining EPCM Project
Our client, a leading international mining house, is seeking an experienced Senior Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) to join its major project team based in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
Reporting to the Contracts Manager and Project Controls Manager, this senior commercial role offers the opportunity to provide commercial leadership across a significant mining project, ensuring effective cost management, contract administration and commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
Occasional travel to the project site in Zimbabwe will be required.
Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Professional Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Lead and manage the Quantity Surveying function across major project activities.
- Develop and maintain project cost plans, budgets, cash flow forecasts and cost-control systems.
- Monitor project expenditure, commitments and forecasts against approved budgets.
- Measure and value engineering and construction works.
- Review contractor payment applications and certify valuations.
- Administer EPC, EPCM, engineering and construction contracts.
- Manage contract registers, commercial correspondence, variations and claims.
- Evaluate compensation events, extension of time claims and contractual entitlement.
- Prepare commercial tender documentation and participate in tender evaluations and negotiations.
- Support Project Controls through cost reporting, forecasting and earned-value analysis.
- Identify commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure governance, compliance and audit readiness throughout the project.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or BTech in Quantity Surveying.
- Professional registration as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS) with SACQSP (or recognised international equivalent).
Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior commercial or Quantity Surveying position.

- EPCM Projects
- Infrastructure Projects
- Heavy Industrial Construction
- Strong experience in:
- Cost Management
- Contract Administration
- Valuations
- Variations
- Claims Management
- Final Accounts
- Contractor Payment Certification
- Essential experience working with FIDIC Contracts.
- Experience with NEC, JBCC or EPC/EPCM contracts highly advantageous.
- Experience with in integrated Project Controls environments.
- African project experience advantageous.
- Zimbabwe project experience beneficial.
