PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The purpose of this role is to operate fine gold refining induction furnaces, granulation furnaces and operating of de – golding furnaces.
SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Ensures that the deposits are charged and refined into the furnace.
Make sure all deposit slips for the charge to be handed to Clerks.
Take process samples and monitor quality of molten gold and anodes.
Housekeeping and Stock management ensure correct labelling and proper evaluation of material.
Fine gold ingots and fluxes collection to the fine gold floor.
Transfer ingots from trolleys into duty furnace using tongs.
Conduct Pre-start checks on furnace and submit to the Supervisor, prior to charging the furnace.
Maintain accurate production logs and provide shift performance feedback.
Achieve daily production targets and ensure accountability for metallic residues.
Collaborate with Asset Care to resolve furnace maintenance issues.
Allow charge to melt while furnace and crucible heats up.
Check that all material and tools for refining are available to complete the charge.
Secure Chlorine hoses to graphite tubes and Fill in time on log Sheet.
During and at the end of the Refining Process complete the log sheet.
Participate in daily toolbox meetings and section’s monthly safety meetings.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and address safety concerns proactively.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
?Computer proficiency– MS Outlook, Excel, Word and SAP.
?Good communication skills.
?Problem solving skills.
?Troubleshoot by referring to procedures.
?Provide clear routine communication in connection with instructions, requests or normal work tasks.
KNOWLEDGE:
?Knowledge of dealing with molten metal.
?Knowledge of refining, granulation, melting, and degolding
?Knowledge of Fine-gold processes (technical and troubleshooting).
?Understanding of Fine-gold process hazard and risks.
?SHEQ knowledge – Able to conform to the various departmental Safety requirements.
