We’re looking for a highly analytical, commercially minded, and execution-focused Senior Operations Specialist – Marketplace to drive marketplace performance across South Africa. In this role, you will own the rider and driver value proposition, with a particular focus on pricing strategy, marketplace optimisation, and sustainable growth across all South African cities.
Working closely with local and central teams, you’ll use data, experimentation, and operational insights to balance supply and demand, improve marketplace efficiency, and deliver exceptional experiences for riders and drivers. This is a high-impact role where your decisions will directly influence marketplace health, commercial performance, and growth.
Main Tasks And Responsibilities
- Own the rider and driver value proposition by developing and executing marketplace and pricing strategies that drive sustainable growth and improve marketplace health across South Africa.
- Analyse marketplace performance by monitoring key operational metrics, including supply and demand, utilisation, pricing, surge, ETAs, conversion, cancellations, and driver earnings, translating insights into actionable recommendations.
- Design, execute, and evaluate pricing experiments, A/B tests, and marketplace initiatives to optimise city performance while balancing rider affordability and driver earnings.
- Identify operational bottlenecks, market trends, and growth opportunities through advanced data analysis, competitor benchmarking, and customer behaviour insights.
- Partner closely with Product, Growth, Marketing, Analytics, and local Operations teams to deliver marketplace improvements, launch new initiatives, and execute strategic projects.
- Develop business cases and performance reporting for senior stakeholders, providing clear recommendations that support commercial decision-making and long-term marketplace strategy.
- Support the expansion of Bolt’s services by analysing market opportunities, monitoring competitive dynamics, and recommending initiatives that strengthen our position within the South African mobility ecosystem.
- Continuously evaluate marketplace performance, recommending and implementing operational improvements that enhance rider satisfaction, driver engagement, and overall business performance.
About You
- You have 4–7 years of experience in marketplace operations, ride-hailing, mobility, strategy, consulting, commercial operations, or a similar analytical environment.
- You have strong experience working with large datasets and are confident using data analysis to identify trends, solve complex business problems, and drive strategic decisions.
- You have experience influencing pricing strategy, marketplace optimisation, commercial performance, or operational decision-making within a fast-paced business.
- You possess excellent analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex problems into practical solutions.
- You are commercially minded and understand how pricing, supply, demand, customer behaviour, and operational execution interact to drive marketplace performance.
- You communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders and are comfortable influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- You are proactive, highly organised, and thrive in fast-moving environments where you can take ownership from strategy through execution.
- You are passionate about mobility, technology, and using data to build better experiences for riders and drivers.

- Take care of your physical and mental health with our wellness perks.
- Celebrate 5 years at Bolt with a 1-month paid sabbatical to recharge.
- Connect with colleagues at annual company events and smaller team gatherings.
- Balance flexibility and in-person collaboration with our hybrid model, including at least 12 monthly in-office days.
