Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of node rooms to ensure optimal performance.
Node room maintenance, complete the maintenance based on site inspections carried out.
Maintain detailed documentation of all cabling, routers, switches, cabinets, backup power systems, fire suppression, and air conditioning.
Identify opportunities for improvements in existing installations and infrastructure.
Inspect cabinets in MMR/node rooms, including cabling, routers, switches, UPS, etc.
Label and document network equipment accurately.
Perform crimping of Cat5/Cat6 cabling.
Report any faults or issues in the MMR/Node Rooms to the line manager.
Install new commercial Cat5/Cat6 cabling and ensure high-quality cable installations.
Install routers, switches, and wireless radios to specification.
Document all work completed in line with relevant reporting guidelines.
Qualifications
Matric
Electrical qualification advantageous
FTTH training and certifications advantageous
Experience And Knowledge
Proven experience in a similar role.
Installation of CAT5, CAT6, and fibre.
Cable crimping to industry standards.
Maintenance of server and node rooms.
Fault finding using OTDR, CAT5/6 testers, and fibre laser tools.
Experience with fibre modules and light sources.
Installation and alignment of wireless dishes.
Basic inspection of masts and brackets.
Understanding of FNO & ISP SLAs for residential and commercial networks.
Knowledge of telecom procurement processes and supplier management.
