Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Business Analyst who excels in developing highly detailed specifications and has a deep understanding of financial systems and process engineering. This role will be instrumental in designing, documenting, and refining business processes with robust controls, ensuring they meet our compliance standards and operational needs. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders across compliance, tech, product, and finance teams to ensure all processes are well-defined and efficiently executed.

Key Responsibilities

Detailed Specification Writing: Develop comprehensive, highly detailed business requirements and technical specifications, ensuring accuracy and clarity for development, compliance, and operational teams.

Process Analysis & Engineering: Analyse and map intricate end-to-end business processes within financial systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimisation.

Financial Systems Expertise: Provide expert guidance on financial systems (payments, stablecoins, blockchain), ensuring they align with business objectives, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Control Design & Implementation: Define, document, and implement detailed control mechanisms to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all business processes.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, translating complex business needs into precise, actionable technical specifications, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.

Data-Driven Insights: Perform detailed data analysis to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve system performance, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all business processes and financial systems comply with South African and other financial regulations and internal policies.

Continuous Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement and designing solutions that simplify and automate processes without compromising detail or control.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience: 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in the financial services or fintech sector, with a strong focus on developing detailed business specifications.

Technical Skills: In-depth understanding of financial systems, business process engineering, and control frameworks, with experience in payments (bonus – blockchain technology).

Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis tools and familiar with business intelligence platforms with a strong ability to translate data into detailed specifications.

Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a particular emphasis on translating complex business needs into detailed and precise technical documentation.

Problem-Solving: Sharp problem-solving skills, capable of managing detailed specifications and solving complex issues in a dynamic environment.
