, Requirements,
Required Qualifications / Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, Engineering, Finance or a related field.
- 8–10 years of senior management experience in the steel or metals industry — you know this space deeply.
- Proven track record of growing revenue, opening new markets and delivering on P&L targets.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to read, interpret and act on performance data.
- SAP proficiency advantageous; strong overall computer literacy is essential.
- Solid understanding of OHSA, ISO standards and relevant South African legislation.
- Exceptional communication skills in English — written and verbal; you articulate ideas with clarity and conviction.
- A growth mindset: someone who experiments, learns fast and is never afraid to challenge the norm.

- Set the commercial direction for the branch and translate company strategy into tangible revenue results.
- Relentlessly pursue new market segments, customer categories and revenue streams that others have overlooked.
- Think laterally — challenge existing models, identify inefficiencies and turn them into competitive advantages.
- Drive customer acquisition and retention by building relationships that outlast market cycles.
Financial & Operational Performance
- Own the branch P&L — set budgets, control costs and drive profitability with a sharp commercial instinct.
- Optimise inventory, production output and resource allocation to maximise margin and operational flow.
- Monitor financial performance daily and course-correct with speed and confidence.
- Implement scalable processes that support sustainable growth without sacrificing agility
People & Culture
- Build and lead a high-performance team — coaching, mentoring and holding people to ambitious standards.
- Create an environment where talent is retained, succession is planned, and every team member grows.
- Foster a culture of accountability, commercial curiosity and customer obsession.
- Manage employee relations and industrial relations with fairness, firmness and transparency.
Customer & Supplier Excellence
- Develop deep, trust-based relationships with key customers and strategic suppliers.

- Lead sales and marketing initiatives that make the branch the first call in the Cape Town market.
Compliance, Safety & Quality
- Champion a zero-compromise safety culture aligned with OHSA, ISO and Macsteel SHEQ standards.
- Embed risk management practices that protect people, assets and business continuity.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations and corporate governance frameworks.
