Role Description

This is a full-time role for a Senior Bookkeeper with excellent Xero profieciency. The Senior Bookkeeper will manage end-to-end bookkeeping, including posting and reconciling transactions in Xero, maintaining general ledgers, and preparing accurate financial statements for SME clients. Daily responsibilities include processing journal entries, managing accounts payable and receivable, handling payroll entries, electronic filing for the client access via the client portal, and supporting tax and compliance reporting. The role involves reviewing and improving bookkeeping workflows, collaborating with the line Partner, and communicating clearly with clients to resolve queries and provide financial insights.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Candidates should possess strong Bookkeeping and Accountancy skills, with proven experience in managing ledgers and reconciliations using Xero.
  • Certified Xero advisors / migration specialists will be an advantage.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in cloud-based finance systems, including Simple Pay for payroll processing and resourceful to learn about available system and software integrations in Xero’s ecosystem.
  • Candidates should possess skills in preparing and reviewing management accounts (using Xero’s reporting features) and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Candidates should possess a solid understanding of finance, including cash flow, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and basic tax, VAT, and payroll principles.
  • Candidates should possess strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Candidates should possess effective written and verbal communication skills to work with clients and internal teams.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in an accounting related field is preferred; prior experience in an SME-focused practice is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines for a portfolio of allocated clients, and maintain high levels of integrity and confidentiality.
