Full Job Description
Purpose of the position
The position will be a highly detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper with proven experience using Xero accounting software. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting functions, and supporting financial reporting and compliance activities. You will play a key role in ensuring the company’s financial health through precision, accountability, and timely reporting. Responsibilities and duties
Bookkeeping & Accounting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Reconcile bank, credit card, and supplier accounts.
Maintain general ledger and trial balance accuracy.
Record journal entries and ensure appropriate supporting documentation.
Payroll & Compliance
Process monthly payroll and submit required payroll tax returns (if applicable).
Ensure compliance with tax regulations, VAT submissions, and statutory returns.
Prepare and lodge BAS/VAT returns through Xero.
Financial Reporting
Generate and analyze financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
Support external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to queries.
Administrative Support
Maintain organized filing of financial documents.
Liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams regarding financial matters.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow projections.
Manage petty cash and staff expense claims.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Requirements
Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of bookkeeping experience (with at least 2 years using Xero).
Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
Preferred
Xero Certified Advisor (advantageous).
Experience in a similar industry (e.g. construction, services, or retail).
Experience working with multi-currency transactions and foreign VAT (if applicable).
