Job Summary
AppConverge is seeking an experienced SAP Customer Activity Repository (SAP CAR) K5 Consultant with more than seven years of SAP retail and SAP CAR experience. The consultant will be responsible for designing, configuring, integrating, implementing and supporting SAP CAR solutions within a complex retail environment.
The role requires strong expertise in SAP CAR, retail transaction processing, data integration, performance optimisation and functional design. The successful candidate must be able to work with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate retail requirements into scalable SAP solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, configuration, implementation and support of SAP CAR solutions.
- Facilitate workshops to gather, analyse and document retail business requirements.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications and solution designs.
- Configure and support relevant SAP CAR capabilities, including:
- POS Data Transfer and Audit (POSDTA)
- Unified Demand Forecast (UDF)
- Demand Data Foundation (DDF)
- On-Shelf Availability (OSA), where applicable
- Omnichannel Article Availability and Sourcing (OAA), where applicable
- Promotion Management for Retail (PMR), where applicable
- Inventory Visibility and Multichannel Sales processes
- Configure inbound processing, transaction validation, error handling, aggregation and outbound processing of point-of-sale data.
- Integrate SAP CAR with SAP S/4HANA Retail, SAP Retail, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP HANA and relevant third-party systems.
- Support the integration of POS systems, e-commerce platforms, customer applications and other retail channels.
- Analyse and resolve functional, integration, data-quality and performance issues.
- Manage master-data and transactional-data dependencies across stores, articles, sites, customers, promotions and sales transactions.
- Prepare functional specifications for interfaces, reports, enhancements, conversions and workflows.
- Work closely with ABAP, SAP HANA, Basis, integration, security and data teams.
- Plan and execute unit testing, system integration testing, regression testing and user acceptance testing.
- Support data migration, cutover, deployment, go-live and post-go-live activities.
- Develop configuration documents, process designs, test scripts, user guides and support procedures.
- Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to client teams and junior consultants.
- Ensure solutions comply with SAP best practices, governance requirements and organisational standards.
Minimum Requirements
- More than seven years of SAP consulting or implementation experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience with SAP CAR and SAP retail solutions.
- Successful participation in at least two full SAP CAR implementation lifecycles.
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP CAR K5 or the required project competency classification.
- Advanced knowledge of POSDTA, transaction processing, audit rules, aggregation and error handling.
- Strong understanding of retail business processes, including:
- Point-of-sale operations
- Sales and returns
- Article and merchandise management
- Pricing and promotions
- Inventory and replenishment
- Store operations
- Omnichannel retail
- Demand forecasting
- Experience integrating SAP CAR with SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC Retail.
- Good understanding of SAP HANA architecture and SAP CAR data models.
- Experience with IDocs, APIs, RFCs, OData services and batch or real-time interfaces.
- Ability to produce high-quality business process documents, functional specifications and test documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary delivery teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain, Retail Management or a related discipline.
- Relevant SAP CAR, SAP Retail or SAP S/4HANA certification.
- Experience with SAP Fiori applications and SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Knowledge of SAP Integration Suite, SLT, SDI or other SAP integration technologies.
- Experience in large-scale retail transformation or S/4HANA migration programmes.
- Exposure to Agile, SAP Activate or hybrid delivery methodologies.
