About Andy Anderssen Pulp & Paper
Andy Anderssen Pulp & Paper has been a cornerstone of the Southern African pulp, paper, and tissue industry since 1990. Built on over three decades of hands-on experience, we supply premium-quality consumable products to some of the region's most respected manufacturers, including Mondi, Sappi, Mpact, Neopak, Twinsaver, Kimberly-Clark, and Corruseal Group. We represent world-class global principals including Asten Johnson, Kadant, C.E.M Machine, Ryeco, Erhardt + Leimer, Allimand, and Lanko International. Our reputation is built on trust, technical knowledge, and a genuine commitment to helping our clients run better operations. We are a small, experienced team. Everyone here carries real responsibility. If you want to grow in a technically demanding, commercially rewarding environment where your work directly impacts the business, this is the role for you.
The Role
We are looking for a Sales & Service Engineer to manage and grow relationships with our clients across Southern Africa. This is a field-based role. You will spend the majority of your time on-site at paper mills, working directly with production teams, solving problems, and identifying opportunities to add value. You will be the face of Andy Anderssen and our principals to the mill. That means understanding the customer's operation well enough to recommend the right products, troubleshoot technical issues on the floor, and build the kind of long-term trust that keeps clients coming back.
This is not a desk job. It rewards people who are technically curious, commercially driven, and genuinely enjoy being in the field.
What You Will Do
You will manage an assigned portfolio of clients across the Southern African pulp, paper, and tissue sector. Regular mill visits are central to this role. You will assess fabric and consumable performance, identify replacement and upgrade opportunities, and work with the client's technical team to solve operational challenges.
You will develop new business within your territory, responding to tenders, preparing proposals, and negotiating supply agreements. You will work closely with our principals to stay current on product developments and ensure clients have access to the latest solutions.
You will report on territory activity, pipeline status, and market intelligence. You will also coordinate with our internal team on order fulfilment, logistics, and after-sales support to make sure every delivery lands well.
What We Are Looking For
A background in paper-making, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering gives you a strong foundation for this role. Whether you came through a formal degree or built your knowledge on the mill floor, what matters most is that you understand how paper machines work and can speak credibly with production and engineering teams. You are commercially switched on. You understand that a good technical relationship opens commercial doors, and you pursue both with equal energy.
You are comfortable on the road. This role requires frequent travel across Southern Africa, with the possibility of occasional international travel to visit principal partners or attend industry events.
You communicate clearly and confidently in English. Proficiency in Afrikaans or Portuguese is an advantage given our client base and regional footprint.
You are self-managing. You can organise your own schedule, prioritise your territory, and follow through without needing daily direction.
Experience and Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in engineering, paper-making, chemical technology, or a related technical field. Equivalent practical experience in the pulp and paper industry will be considered.
- A minimum of three to five years of experience in a technical sales, service, or production role within the pulp, paper, tissue, or related process industry.
- Technically curious and commercially driven with paper industry experience, able to turn data into customer value.
- A valid South African driver's licence.
- Willingness to travel extensively within South Africa.
What We Offer
Andy Anderssen Pulp & Paper offers a competitive package commensurate with experience, including a base salary, performance-based incentive, and a travel allowance. You will represent globally recognised principals in a market where Andy Anderssen has real relationships and a strong reputation. You will have the autonomy to manage your territory and build your book of business with the full backing of an experienced team behind you.
How to Apply
Send your CV and a brief cover note. Tell us which mills or industry environments you have worked in and what drew you to this role. Applications without relevant industry context will not be progressed.
Andy Anderssen Pulp & Paper is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to transformation and encourage applications from previously disadvantaged candidates with the relevant technical background.
