Role Description The Robotics Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing robotics solutions that enhance construction equipment performance, safety, and automation. This full-time, on-site role is based in Midrand and involves collaborating with engineering, IT, and operations teams to integrate robotics and software systems into existing and new machinery. Day-to-day tasks include developing and testing control algorithms, programming robotic components and interfaces, analyzing operational data to improve automation processes, and troubleshooting system issues on equipment and related platforms. The Robotics Developer will document technical designs, support field teams with deployment and maintenance, and contribute to innovation initiatives that optimize workflows and reduce operational downtime.
Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Robotics and Process Automation, with practical experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing robotic systems.
  • Solid Software Development skills, including proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python) and experience with embedded systems or control software.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills for problem-solving, data analysis, and performance optimization of automated and robotic processes.
  • Effective Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, documenting technical work, and presenting complex concepts clearly.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience with industrial automation, control systems, or robotics in construction, mining, or heavy machinery environments is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with sensors, actuators, PLCs, and safety standards relevant to automated equipment.
  • Ability to work on-site in Midrand, support field deployments, and travel to customer locations within Africa as needed.
