Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable South African telecommunications laws and regulations, including ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) requirements. Monitor and ensure adherence to RICA (Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of
Communication
-Related Information Act) and POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act). Liaise with ISPA (Internet Service Providers’ Association) and ensure compliance with industry codes of conduct.
Ensure compliance with the Companies Act, including corporate governance obligations. Maintain
up-to-date
knowledge of regulatory developments and provide advice on the impact of changes. Manage regulatory audits and inspections and respond to inquiries from regulatory bodies. Develop and oversee
regulatory compliance
training for employees. Risk Management Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework for the business. Conduct risk assessments and identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability.
Ensure risk mitigation measures are in place to prevent financial, operational or reputational risks. Monitor business operations and report on key risk indicators. Establish risk management policies and processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Work with various departments to ensure risk awareness and promote a risk-conscious culture within the company. Governance & Compliance Reporting Develop and manage compliance policies and procedures in line with regulatory and legal requirements.
Provide periodic compliance and risk reports to
senior management
and the board. Oversee internal audits and compliance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are implemented as necessary. Work closely with the legal team to ensure that contracts and agreements comply with regulatory requirements. Ensure the company meets its obligations under the Competition Act, Consumer Protection Act and other relevant legislation. Stakeholder Engagement Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, including ICASA, ISPA, and other authorities.
Engage with external legal advisors, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies as needed. Key Requirements Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 4 years of experience in
regulatory compliance
, risk management, or legal roles, preferably within the telecommunications or technology sector. Strong knowledge of South African telecommunications regulations, data privacy laws, and corporate governance requirements. Proven experience in
risk assessment
, mitigation strategies and compliance program implementation.
Excellent analytical,
problem-solving
and decision-making skills. Strong
communication
and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to interact at all levels. High
attention to detail
and the ability to manage multiple regulatory requirements simultaneously.
