Main Purpose of the job: Manage the Risk department, security and safety in the store whilst ensuring the protection of all Company assets and compliance to legislation in line with Group operational risk.
Key Performance areas:
Business Interpretation and Planning
· Document, and ensure communication of, key risks.
· Ensure all procedures are adhered to
· Maintain input and data quality of risk management systems.
· Maintain data in information systems or databases.
· Recommend ways to control or reduce risk.
· Advise others on business or operational matters.
· Develop contingency plans to deal with emergencies.
· Conduct compliance & risk assessments.
· Integral part of the committee
Appointed coordinator
Health and Safety
· Ensure legal compliance
· Comply to legislation with dangerous equipment
· Conduct compliance & risk assessments.
· Ensure all incident/accident reports are completed
· Portal management system
· Appointments must be current and in place
· Ensure committee meetings and activities take place
· Co-ordinate and cooperate with external auditors according to Labor Relations Act, Local
Municipality and Fire Department.
· Manage health and safety officers
Asset Protection and Security
· Secondary structures in place
· Managing contracts- external procedures must be adhered to
· Meetings
· Managing asset protection managers
· Shrinkage committee
Transportation and Fire protection
· Ensure a proper asset register of vehicles compliance is kept
· Make certain vehicle inspections are being carried out
· Ensure damages are reported
· Ensure drivers are trained/ informed on what the procedure that follows situations such as
hijacking and accidents
Hazarders Substances and Insurance
· Hazarders material data sheet for substances in store and in storage
· List of hazarders substances on the sales floor
· Management of hazarders substances
· Training of staff on how to handle hazarders substances
- Responsible for doing risk analysis and identifying any hazards
Insurance
· Ensure that all incidents are managed, claim forms are filled out thoroughly and with accurate
detail
· Have a thorough understanding of Public liability, and transportation insurance laws
· Have a thorough understanding of damage claims
· Thorough understanding of special permits
· Ensure that all incidents reported on portal
Fire protection
· Compliance to Fire brigades act
· Ensure management of stores fire protection system
· Local bylaws are followed
· Fire protection procedures are in place
· Fire prevention equipment is serviceable
· Accountable for fire alarms and drills
Budget and expense
· Budget is managed responsibly
· Expenses are managed
· Prepare financial documents, reports, or budgets
Requirements:
Minimum Academic Requirements, Professional Qualifications, and Experience:
- For appointment to this managerial level you will have to successfully have completed the Makro Retail Management Development Program , Or
- Have the relevant and recognized tertiary qualification (at Diploma or Degree level) Or
- 3-5 years management experience in similar environment
