Retail space planners play a pivotal role in the success of any business in the retail industry. At Dot Activ, they help transform in-store experiences and drive sales and profit. We are expanding our team and offering a starting Cost to Company of between R9 000 and R12 000 per month. Category management involves managing product categories to deliver value to shoppers, increasing sales and profit for retailers. It guides decisions on product stocking and in-store organization to enhance customer satisfaction.
Founded in 1991 as a category management consultancy, Dot Activ became the first to establish a formalized management process with a retailer (Pick n Pay) in 1997. In 2001, we launched our data-driven category management system, now used by over 2000 retail professionals across more than 110 countries.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THIS JOB?
As a retail space planner at Dot Activ, your responsibilities include:
Creating strategic assortment plans
Designing data-driven floor space plans
Planning and building shelf plans
Conducting analytical reviews of floor and space plans
Building ranging reports and category reviews
Maximizing performance considering category strategies, product financials, shopper psychology, and aesthetics
Supporting and advising retail customers
You will have access to Dot Activ’s comprehensive category management software to assist in these tasks.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM YOURSELF?
We seek candidates with the following skills:
Education
Skills
A degree in Consumer Science or a related field
Proficiency in English (spoken, read, written)
1-2 years retail experience is advantageous but not required
Knowledge and Computer Skills
Experience in retail business operations
Knowledge of category management and merchandising principles (beneficial)
Product knowledge and understanding of product ranges
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google G-Suite
Familiarity with Dot Activ’s systems (training provided)
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to represent Dot Activ confidently
High client engagement capacity
Multitasking and attentiveness in busy environments
Calm, focused, team-oriented, and versatile
