About the Role:
As a Research Assistant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day implementation of research activities across all research programmes. You will assist with data collection, analysis, report writing, and support the dissemination of research findings. Key Responsibilities
Assist with the identification of research needs within ongoing programmes.
Help plan and coordinate research activities under the guidance of the Impact & Research Officer.
Data collection:
Conduct structured and semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and surveys with programme clients and other stakeholders.
Collect quantitative and qualitative data from the field, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Data Management:
Enter, clean, and manage data in designated databases
Transcription, translation and back translation of qualitative data
Analysis & Reporting Support:
· Assist in preliminary analysis of data under supervision.
· Help compile findings, notes, and transcripts to contribute to internal reports or research outputs.
· Support the writing of abstracts, presentations, and reports where relevant.
· Support the development of research-based materials
Ethics and Compliance:
· Ensure all research activities comply with approved study protocols and ethical standards.
· Assist with maintaining participant confidentiality and secure data storage.
Support preparation of ethics submissions and amendments.
Logistical Support:
Coordinate field visits and transport for data collection activities.
Liaise with clinic and programme staff for scheduling interviews or observations.
Support procurement of materials related to fieldwork and data collection.
Stakeholder Engagement:
· Engage respectfully with community members, CHWs, clinic staff, and programme teams.
· Represent the research team in the field and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders.
· Assist in preparing presentations and reports for stakeholders.
Requirements
Diploma or degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
Additional training in research ethics or data collection tools is an advantage.
1-3 years’ experience with fieldwork and data collection (quantitative and qualitative).
Basic understanding of research methods and tools.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literate.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage fieldwork logistics.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Sensitivity to confidentiality, cultural context, and ethical conduct.
Must be fluent in English and IsiXhosa

Pay: R5Â 500,00 – R6Â 000,00 per month
