INTERNAL & EXTERNAL VACANCY: REGISTERED NURSE DEMENTIA & ALZHEIMER’S UNIT DAY SHIFT
We are seeking to employ a dynamic and energetic Registered Nurse at a Care Centre located at a Retirement resort in Century City, Cape Town. The successful candidate will work 12 hours per shift on a roster basis.
Job description
The required Registered Nurse will promote and deliver quality elderly patient care and wellness in accordance with industry standards and to execute Nursing duties within the standards, procedures and protocols set down by the South African Nursing Council.
Key Responsibilities
· Ensure day to day management and organization of the unit and ward.
· Monitor patient’s/residents’ condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice.
· Observe and interpret patient’s/residents’ symptoms and communicate them to nursing manager/doctor.
· Collaborate with doctors and nursing manger to devise individualized care plans for patients/residents.
· Administer medication.
· Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety.
· Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and update patient/resident’s chart.
· Supervise and train nursing staff and Care Givers.
· Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for elderly patients and their families.
· General administrative duties.
Requirements
· Valid SANC registration as a Registered Nurse
· 5 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse
· Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
· Proven experience of elderly care, Alzheimer’s/Dementia and frail care
· In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.)
· A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills
