Job Purpose:
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of civil construction projects. This includes cost estimation, budget control, procurement, progress payments, and contract administration to ensure value for money while delivering high-quality infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for tender submissions and ongoing projects.
• Measure and quantify construction works from drawings and site visits.
• Evaluate and negotiate sub-contractor and supplier contracts.
• Monitor project costs and prepare cash flow forecasts.
• Manage interim valuations and payment applications from subcontractors.
• Certify and process progress payments to suppliers and subcontractors.
• Maintain cost control procedures and reports, including monthly cost/value reconciliations (CVRs).
• Prepare and negotiate variations, claims, and final accounts.
• Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conditions, and legal regulations.
• Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost reporting and project delivery.
• Conduct site visits and attend project meetings to assess progress and address commercial issues.
• Identify and mitigate project financial risks.
• Support procurement and sourcing strategies to optimize project costs.
Qualifications and
Experience:
Qualifications:
• National Diploma or BTech/BSc in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• SACQSP registration (or working towards professional registration) is an advantage
Experience:
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the civil construction industry
• Experience working on infrastructure projects such as roads, earthworks, water reticulation, and pipelines
• Strong knowledge of JBCC, GCC, and NEC contract forms
• Proven track record in cost control, contractual claims, and variation management

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and industry-related software (e.g., CCS Candy, Build Smart, or similar)
• Excellent numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote project sites as needed
