Salary Range: R180,000 – R300,000 per annum (based on experience)
Sonly International Machinery (Pty) Ltd is looking for a dynamic and detail-driven Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our tender office. This role is critical to our pricing function and supports the preparation of competitive, accurate, and compliant tender submissions.
This role will focus purely on tender pricing, quantity take-offs, rate building, and BOQ compilation, working closely with the Bid & Tender Coordination Manager, compliance, and procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and price tender BOQs and cost schedules for public and private sector submissions
Conduct quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
Liaise with the procurement team to collect and verify supplier and subcontractor pricing
Ensure pricing accuracy and compliance with tender requirements
Track and update rate databases for frequently used materials and items
Support the tender team with ad hoc cost-related inputs and value engineering suggestions
Minimum Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
2–3 years of experience working on tender pricing in construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors
Strong understanding of the tender process, especially in public procurement (CIDB, RFQs, RFPs)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with good numerical and analytical skills
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and well-organised
Nice to Have (Advantageous):
Experience working within a tender or estimating department
Familiarity with construction, electrical and general building BOQs, especially in supply and installation work
Understanding of construction regulations, cost controls, or supply chain pricing trends
