A challenging opportunity exists at Metals Vanderbijlpark for a Quality Manager in the Quality department. The primary objective for this role is to participate in the development of the quality strategy and implement the quality management system and protocols to ensure regulatory compliance, and adherence to all internal quality specifications and customer to produce quality and safe products. This position will be reporting to the Plant Manager. This position is graded as a Peromnes 07.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance to local and relevant statutory requirements, the business code of practice, and the quality management system
- Provide leadership and support the departments in the implementation and maintenance of the quality management system.
- Lead the risk assessments relating to quality and product safety, and implement, track and verify risk mitigations and actions to improve the quality processes and products.
- Manage the process capability studies to ensure the quality parameters for new and existing products adhere to the quality specifications and customer requirements.
- Ensure the control systems for the quality management system are implemented and adhered to throughout the supply chain to adhere to quality specifications and customer requirements.
- Perform the relevant instrument and testing equipment inspections to ensure it functions effectively and any abnormalities are identified and addressed timeously for repeatability of test results.
- Identify and mange quality projects to drive and achieve a zero-defect culture.
- Ensure all instruments and gauges are calibrated at the required intervals, and calibration records are maintained for compliance, auditing, and traceability purposes.
- Structure and lead the Implementation of the operational excellence best practices in the department to reduce costs, improve quality, optimize delivery, and achieve customer satisfaction and retention.
Qualifications
- Degree in Quality/Operations/Health Sciences/Industrial or Chemical Engineering .
- 5 years’ experience in quality management in FMCG.
- ISO 9001 / FSSC 22000 Internal Auditor experience.
- Strong investigative and analytical and reporting skills
- Supplier management skills .
