Core purpose of the role
To support the de-fleeting process by quality inspection and valuation of vehicles. Ensure that the quality of vehicles received are as per the fair, wear and tear guiding principles. Support the trade branch in achieving and exceeding their objectives and goals. Ensure yard hygiene by maintaining order, cleanliness and safety in the yard.
Key deliverables and outputs
Strategic/Financial
- Record necessary vehicle reconditioning and associate costs thereto to recover values accordingly from RAC Operations
- Update the reconditioning recoveries report daily.
Operational
- Ensure correct allocation of stock to retail and trade branches (e.g. service history and accident history checked)
- Identify and notify manager of any vehicles that need to be returned to Rent a Car (RFC’ed) within one working day
- Inspect stock presented from RAC in line with de-fleeting standards (e.g. fair wear-and-tear guide)
- Inspect stock received from Avis Fleet
- Where applicable, request vehicle papers and spare keys from Fleet Control and Avis Fleet
- Verify Papers (Natis) and Spare Keys (PSKs), close RAC VTCs and open VTCs to the designated branches
- Ensure accuracy of information uploaded to the Dealers Online App
- Generate and distribute daily inspection report to management
- Provide ad hoc support to the branch (e.g. weekly/monthly stock verifications, vehicle repairs) as required.
Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities)
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Rent a Car Operations and Luxury Cars
- Maintain effective working relationships with Suppliers/Dealers.
Internal and External Stakeholders
The role requires close engagement and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
Internal Stakeholders
Dispatch Manager, Dispatchers, Drivers, Workshop and Damages Manager, Fleet Control team, Avis Car Sales Managers, General Managers.
External Stakeholders
Dealers Online, OEM Dealerships (manufacturers), panel shops.
Academic Qualifications
Essential:
- Matric
- Valid Driver’s License.
Advantageous:
- Code 14 Driver’s License.
Note: The role requires working outdoors and physical activity whilst inspecting vehicles.
Work Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 1-Year previous related work experience.
Advantageous:
- Previous Mechanical or Panel beating Experience
- Previous RAC/Avis Fleet/Dealership Experience
- Previous Automotive Industry Experience
- Previous exposure to the Dealers Online App.
