Position Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Quality Control Officer to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all civil and concrete-related construction activities meet the required quality standards and specifications. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in CONCRETE structures and civil engineering, particularly within the marine environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain project-specific Quality Control Plans.
  • Monitor and inspect all phases of construction, with a focus on concrete works (casting, curing, testing, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant civil and marine engineering codes, specifications, and standards.
  • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and non-conformance reports.
  • Liaise with engineers, site managers, and contractors to resolve quality issues on-site.
  • Coordinate with third-party testing laboratories and ensure proper sampling and material testing procedures.
  • Assist with audits and quality reviews, both internal and external.
  • Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • National Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in quality control within the civil or marine construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete structures and materials testing procedures.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license / own vehicle preferable, and willingness to travel to project sites when required.

Preferred:

  • Experience in marine infrastructure projects (e.g., ports, harbours, seawalls).
  • Relevant studies qualification.
