Purpose Of The Job:
Our client, a reputable and well-established independent passenger vehicle service centre, is seeking a qualified and experienced Diagnostic Technician to join their team. This role is ideally suited to a technically skilled individual with strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities, who is passionate about modern vehicle technology and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop their technical expertise through ongoing manufacturer-level and in-house training programmes, while working within a professional and supportive workshop environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics and fault-finding on mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
- Identify and resolve complex vehicle faults efficiently and accurately
- Utilize diagnostic equipment, software, and technical information systems to determine root causes of failures
- Conduct repairs and maintenance in accordance with industry standards and best practices
- Diagnose engine management, transmission, ABS, airbag, CAN-Bus, and other electronic system faults
- Interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures
- Perform quality control checks to ensure repairs are completed correctly
- Maintain accurate job cards and service records
- Support workshop staff with technical guidance when required
- Stay up to date with new vehicle technologies and diagnostic procedures through ongoing training and development
- Ensure compliance with workshop health and safety standards
Requirements:
- Qualified Passenger Vehicle Technician (Trade Tested)
- Minimum 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience as a Diagnostic Technician in the automotive industry, service centre or workshop environment
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding experience on passenger vehicles
- Experience working with modern vehicle electronic systems and control modules
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment and diagnostic software
- Valid driver’s licence
- Computer literate
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
