Key Responsibilities
Carpentry & Property Improvements
- Work directly with the owner to plan, prioritize, and complete carpentry and property improvement projects throughout the year.
- Renovate, update, and improve camper cabins and other buildings according to the owner’s specifications and priorities.
- Reconfigure existing cabins and construct new rooms, walls, storage areas, and other interior improvements as requested.
- Renovate and improve bathrooms, including tiling, flooring, walls, fixtures, and associated structural work.
- Construct, repair, and improve decks, stairs, stages, porches, railings, and other exterior structures.
- Install and replace subflooring, flooring, trim, doors, cabinetry, shelving, and other building components.
- Construct cabins, sheds, outbuildings, and other structures as required.
- Repair and upgrade existing buildings to improve their appearance, functionality, safety, and longevity.
- Complete seasonal projects and improvements in preparation for the summer camp season.
- Work across Camp Cody’s 50+ buildings as projects and priorities require.
Grounds & Landscaping Projects
- Work directly with the owner to implement landscaping and grounds-improvement projects throughout the property.
- Improve the appearance and functionality of outdoor areas around cabins, common spaces, pathways, entrances, activity areas, and other parts of the site.
- Complete landscaping projects including planting, grading, edging, mulching, creating or improving pathways, and developing defined outdoor spaces.
- Assist with drainage, erosion prevention, and other grounds projects where appropriate.
- Construct landscape features such as retaining structures, borders, steps, pathways, fencing, and other outdoor improvements.
- Maintain newly completed landscaping and property projects as necessary to ensure they remain attractive and functional.
- Identify opportunities to improve the appearance, organization, usability, and condition of the property and bring recommendations to the owner.
Project Execution & Organization
- Take ownership of assigned projects from initial discussion through completion.
- Translate the owner’s requests and ideas into practical project plans and completed work.
- Ensure projects are completed efficiently, consistently, and effectively while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Plan projects in advance, including determining materials, equipment, tools, labor, and approximate timelines required.
- Maintain organized project lists and communicate regularly with the owner regarding progress, priorities, delays, and completed work.
- Prioritize projects according to the owner’s direction and seasonal deadlines.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring work is completed thoroughly rather than leaving projects unfinished.
- Source and organize materials needed for projects while being mindful of cost, quality, and waste.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized project sites throughout construction and upon completion.
- Ensure work complies with applicable building codes, safety requirements, and established construction best practices.
- Coordinate with outside contractors, vendors, or other members of the property team when a project requires additional expertise or manpower.
- Work alongside the on-site maintenance team when projects overlap while maintaining responsibility for assigned owner-directed projects.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in an organized and professional manner.
- Perform other reasonable carpentry, landscaping, construction, grounds, and property-improvement projects requested by the owner.
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
