Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Software Developer (Civil/Structural Engineer) to join our team to program various design modules that form part of the PROKON design suite. Focus points will include the development and maintenance of new design module features, engineering codes and standards, improvements to existing features and bug/error corrections. Preparation of source and user documentation is also required. The work will be carried out using various languages, as the need arises. PROKON standards should be followed for programming, source and user documentation, and source control.
Key Responsibilities
· Developing and maintaining software applications
· Collaborating with team members to design and implement new features
· Debugging and troubleshooting software issues
· Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
· Testing and documenting software applications
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ design experience with PROKON
- Computer Science and Software Development skills
- Proficient in programming languages
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Experience with version control
Additional skills (Experience in the following fields will be advantageous)
· Experience with CAD development
· Experience with API development
· Experience with analysis engines
Soft Skills
- Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly and work within a team
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project needs
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to deliver within deadlines
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng) (Minimum requirement)
- Qualifications/Certifications in Computer Science, Software Development, or related field an advantage
Package
· Position: permanent upon successful completion of probationary period
· Hybrid role within South Africa only
· Salary range: market-related (negotiable)
· Workdays: Monday to Friday, 08h00 – 17h00
· Annual leave: 24 days (excluding public holidays)
