Project Manager Jobs in City of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa at flyp
Title: Project Manager
Company: flyp
Location: City of Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa
Company Overview
Flyp is revolutionising the property industry with a mission to create a fairer, more efficient ecosystem for sellers, agents, and buyers. The current property market is plagued by inefficiencies and a lack of transparency, leading to missed opportunities and frustration. Flyp disrupts this status quo through technology-enabled solutions that prioritise trust, transparency, and maximum value for sellers.
With a strong product-market fit and initial funding secured, Flyp is poised to scale its operations and make a significant impact in the industry.
Job Overview
Transformations at Flyp are hands-on residential renovation projects, typically delivered within four weeks. We improve homes that are not selling or not achieving their full potential through targeted upgrades such as kitchens, bathrooms, redecoration, layout changes, and furniture installation.
As a Project Manager based in Cape Town, you will be part of the operational command centre for a diverse portfolio of projects, translating design intent into finished homes. Your portfolio will include both standard transformations (Upstage and Uplift) and our high-growth "Rent While Selling" (RWS) product. We need a fast-paced, detail-oriented "plate-spinner" who is eager to help us refine our operational model and scale our delivery capabilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
Project & Site Management
- End-to-End Delivery: Own projects from design handover through to guest-ready completion, building timelines, understanding dependencies, and tracking milestones.
- Contractor Coordination: Select, coordinate, and track daily on-site progress with contractors. Build strong, trusted remote relationships to ensure work is delivered to scope, quality, and timeline.
- Quality Assurance: Interpret design briefs early to resolve ambiguity, and manage quality checks via remote verification or third-party inspections.
"Rent While Selling" (RWS) Focus
- Funnel Ownership: Take lead responsibility for the RWS funnel—our product for vendors who need homes "live" and market-ready without a full build phase.
- Onboarding & Upselling: Review vendor-provided details, conduct quality checks, and identify necessary extras (e.g., furniture packs) to meet Flyp standards.
- High-Volume Scalability: Coordinate with the listings team for rapid deployment, managing high-volume onboarding (e.g., 20+ properties at a time) with precision.
Budget & Materials Coordination
- Logistics & Finance: Coordinate material deliveries to site and resolve issues quickly. Track contractor progress to notify Finance for staged payment releases.
- Variation Management: Process mid-build variations, assessing time, cost, and scope impact through clear approval flows.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Vendor Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, providing regular updates (including site photos) and managing expectations proactively.
- Internal Alignment: Partner with Designers, Client Success, Inventory, and the Operations Hub to ensure seamless handovers, property access, internet setup, and compliance documentation (e.g., GSC, EICR).
- Data & Tech Integrity: Maintain accurate project statuses in Monday.com and proactively explore AI-driven tools to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
Success in This Role Looks Like
- Reliable Delivery: Effectively managing a mixed portfolio, ensuring both standard and RWS projects meet deadlines and quality KPIs.
- Operational Rigor: Consistently catching missing details, managing contractor timelines proactively, and providing full visibility on project status.
- Collaborative Impact: Becoming a trusted, safe pair of hands within the Cape Town operational hub.
Core KPIs
- On Time: Milestones and final delivery achieved as planned.
- In Budget: Projects delivered within approved cost parameters.
- Quality: Work meets Flyp standards and passes all quality and compliance checks.
Working Arrangements
- Location: Based in Cape Town, South Africa.
- Hybrid: 2 days a week from our Cape Town office.
- Remote Setup: A stable fibre internet connection and a reliable loadshedding backup solution are required when working from home.
What You’ll Need

- High proficiency with project management platforms (e.g., Monday.com) and collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Front, Breezeway, KeyNest).
- Tech & AI Mindset: Highly tech-savvy with a genuine interest in how AI can be applied to streamline project management tasks and automate operational workflows.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a mindset for scalable solutions.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-changing, high-growth start-up environment.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
