Role Purpose
To drive the successful delivery of medium-scale, cross-functional projects within Momentum Africa Life, ensuring they are well-coordinated and delivered on time, within budget, and to established quality standards. This role combines project management execution with business analysis capabilities, enabling the Project Manager to understand business processes, clarify requirements, and translate them into structured project plans. The role ensures project outputs are effectively integrated into Africa Life’s value chain and align with operational standards set by the PMO.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Information Systems, Insurance, or a related field
- Recognized Project Management Certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP) (essential)
- Agile / Scrum certification (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) (desirable)
- 3–5 years’ experience in project management, actively managing project delivery lifecycle tasks.
- Demonstrated experience working within life insurance or financial services environments.
- Practical experience blending basic business analysis (process mapping, requirements gathering) with project tracking.
- Proven track record of coordinating small-to-medium cross-functional projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
Process
- Plan, scope, and sequence medium-complexity projects in alignment with Africa Life operational standards.
- Develop and maintain accurate project schedules, resource plans, task allocations, and dependency tracks.
- Use business analysis techniques to clarify requirements and assess basic process impacts prior to execution.
- Identify, monitor, and resolve daily operational delivery risks, issues, and blockages within project workstreams.
- Coordinate project activities with upstream and downstream teams (product, operations, IT, finance).
- Maintain project governance artifacts, track progress, and provide status reporting to key stakeholders and PMO leadership.
- Facilitate project post-mortems/closure reviews to capture lessons learned.
Client
- Engage with cross-functional stakeholders (IT, business operations, finance) to maintain alignment on deliverables.
- Ensure delivered outcomes satisfy business requirements and support customer experience standards.
- Maintain open communication channels with stakeholders regarding status, timeline updates, and potential delays.
Finance
- Track project costs, resource effort, and expenditures against assigned budgets.
- Assist in gathering data for business cases and project cost estimations.
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and optimise resource usage within projects.
People
- Facilitate day-to-day collaboration across project team members and core operational groups.
- Provide tactical task direction and support to project team members, encouraging accountability and focus.
- Foster a collaborative and agile environment within project delivery teams.
