Examples of Duties

Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in program administration required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. Valid State of Ohio Driver's License required.

Duties

  • Respond to referrals and requests for services from older adults, adults with disabilities, and concerned community members through telephone, email, home visits and walk-in contacts.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and support to a team of four staff, including Geriatric Outreach Workers and Intake Specialists, to promote effective service delivery and professional development.
  • Conduct program monitoring and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with program standards and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintain program files in accordance with established policies and procedures, including the retention, storage, and disposition of active and inactive records as required by program and funding sources.
  • Facilitate regular team and individual staff meetings to discuss case consultations, program priorities, workload, and employee development.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment while supporting staff in meeting program goals and delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Collaborate with Department of Aging programs, City of Cleveland departments, and community partners to coordinate services for older adults and adults with disabilities.
  • Serve as one of the department's leads for the client information and case management system, providing staff training, technical assistance, and guidance to promote accurate documentation, reporting, and compliance.
  • Coordinate the Department of Aging's partnership with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank to support food access for eligible residents.
  • Provide leadership for the Department of Aging's Weather Crisis Response Team, coordinating planning and response efforts during extreme weather events.
  • Serve as a member of the Department of Aging Leadership Team, contributing to departmental planning, operational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Actively participate in the Age-Friendly Cleveland Initiative, collaborating with community stakeholders to advance age-friendly policies, programs, and services.
  • Support program operations by monitoring performance, promoting best practices, and ensuring compliance with departmental and funding requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
