Job Overview
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily production and preparation of propane cylinders to ensure adequate inventory is available to meet customer demand and delivery requirements. This position leads the plant operations team, assigns and prioritizes daily workloads, monitors production output and inventory levels, and ensures cylinders are properly filled, inspected, handled, and staged in accordance with company procedures and applicable safety requirements.

The Production Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining an efficient production operation while ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and productive work environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can effectively manage employees, maintain accountability, identify operational needs, and work with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities

· Oversee daily plant production and yard operations to ensure production goals and customer delivery requirements are met.

· Monitor cylinder inventory and production levels to ensure adequate product is available to support scheduled deliveries and anticipated customer demand.

· Plan, prioritize, and assign daily workloads based on production requirements, inventory needs, staffing, and delivery schedules.

· Monitor production output throughout the day and adjust staffing or priorities when necessary to meet operational needs.

· Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient plant environment.

· Ensure propane cylinders are properly filled, inspected, handled, stored, and staged according to company procedures and applicable safety requirements.

· Ensure plant operations comply with company safety policies and applicable OSHA, DOT, CHP, hazardous materials, and other regulatory requirements.

· Communicate job expectations, production goals, priorities, and responsibilities clearly to employees.

· Lead, coach, train, and develop production employees while holding team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and established procedures.

· Train new employees on safe work practices, equipment operation, production procedures, and company expectations.

· Monitor product quality and identify or address issues before products are released for delivery or customer use.

· Oversee inventory movement and assist with identifying inventory shortages, discrepancies, damage, or losses.

· Coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure production and inventory levels support company delivery and customer service needs.

· Oversee equipment condition and report or coordinate necessary maintenance and repairs.

· Identify opportunities to improve workflow, productivity, safety, organization, and cost efficiency.

· Maintain required operational records, licenses, permits, and documentation, including applicable CHP and DOT records.

· Assist with employee performance management, including coaching, counseling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary matters as appropriate.

· Support recruiting, onboarding, and training of production employees.

· Complete other duties and operational responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

· Strong knowledge of production, warehouse, plant, or similar operational environments.

· Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety requirements.

· Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and safe work practices.

· Forklift operation and safety knowledge.

· Strong inventory management and production planning skills.

· Ability to anticipate production and inventory needs based on operational and customer demand.

· Strong leadership and team-building skills.

· Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a professional and productive work environment.

· Strong organizational, administrative, and multitasking skills.

· Effective problem-solving and conflict-management abilities.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work independently with limited supervision and make sound operational decisions.

· General proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· College coursework or degree in Management, Operations, Business, or a related field is a plus.

· Production, warehouse, plant, or similar operational experience required.

· Supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred; 5+ years of supervisory experience is a plus.

· Safety management experience required.

· Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

· Additional driver’s license endorsements are a plus.

· Must meet company drug-testing requirements.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and work on your feet for prolonged periods.

· Ability to regularly lift and handle items weighing up to 45 pounds.

· Ability to work in an active plant production and outdoor yard environment.

· Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with production and warehouse operations.

Other Requirements

· Background investigation, employment verification, reference checks, and drug screening required.

This position must plan ahead, maintain appropriate inventory levels, anticipate delivery and customer needs, and keep the plant and yard prepared for upcoming demand.

The successful candidate will lead by example, place safety and quality first, maintain a clean and organized operation, and build a team that is accountable for completing its work safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
