We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day mining production activities and ensure that production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and in line with operational requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily mining and production activities.
- Ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently and within planned timeframes.
- Manage and monitor mining operations involving iron ore and manganese.
- Experience with both detrital and in-situ mining operations.
- Plan and coordinate drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and stockpiling activities.
- Assist with blast planning and ensure blasting activities are conducted safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Monitor drilling and blasting performance and ensure blasted material meets production requirements.
- Supervise loading and hauling operations and optimise equipment utilisation.
- Monitor production volumes, quality, dilution and recovery.
- Ensure correct ore and waste material is identified, mined and stockpiled.
- Monitor pit development and ensure mining activities follow the approved mine plan.
- Allocate employees and equipment according to daily production requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all mine Health and Safety requirements and applicable legislation.
- Identify and address unsafe working conditions and operational risks.
- Monitor equipment availability, utilisation and downtime.
- Work closely with the Mine Manager, Geology, Engineering and other operational departments.
- Complete daily production reports and provide accurate production information to management.
- Investigate production shortfalls and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Relevant mining qualification or equivalent experience.
- Blasting Certificate / relevant blasting qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum 5–7 years’ supervisory experience in an open-pit mining environment.
- Proven experience in iron ore and/or manganese mining.
- Practical experience in detrital and in-situ mining.
- Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting operations.
