Main Job Purpose

The Production Planner is responsible for developing and managing the execution of production schedules to ensure balanced throughput. This involves aligning capacity planning, material availability, and customer delivery commitments. The role supports the Value Added Supply Chain – specifically the Laminating Safety Glass and Mirror Reflective processes – by integrating best practices and system processes to drive efficiency and support both Company and Group strategic objectives while maintaining effective inventory levels.

Main Objectives

Facilitate, determine, manage, control, and plan monthly Laminating and Mirror sales demand and forecasts to ensure balanced stock levels for S&OP and build purposes.

Manage and plan the Laminating and Mirror supply chain in a cost-effective and efficient manner using available resources to meet customer satisfaction in line with company guidelines.

Manage physical glass inventory (direct and indirect) against actual sales to prevent stock-outs and ensure consistent production and supply.

Monitor and manage the age of direct and indirect glass inventory, ensuring it stays within targeted levels to minimize and eliminate stock obsolescence.

Plan and schedule all production work centers and resources in line with identified capacity and constraints to ensure optimal and cost-effective production.

Embrace and implement new system enhancements within the planning environment; manage business variables and streamline planning processes in line with world-class manufacturing standards.

Ensure accurate plan adherence across PFG operational areas, supported by correct material master data in SAP and APO.

Build and maintain strong customer relationships to meet service level expectations and delivery commitments.

Critical Job RequirementsQualifications

Grade 12 (Matric)

Relevant Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field

SAPICS Certification (preferred)

Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles

Strong understanding of operations and production management

Basic financial and sales management knowledge

Familiarity with industry-specific manufacturing processes

Knowledge of business processes and procedures

Skills

Strong business acumen

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint – Intermediate level)

Analytical and inductive reasoning

Project and production planning capabilities

Conflict and negotiation management

Forecasting and budgeting proficiency

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

ERP system experience: SAP ECC, APO, and IBP

Presentation and reporting skills

Experience

Minimum 5 years’ experience in Production Operations, Planning, and/or Supply Chain Management

Demonstrated leadership experience

Proven experience in a manufacturing environment
