Vermont Compost Company’s mission is to enhance and protect the soil, to help restore community food security. Based in Montpelier, VT, Vermont Compost Company has been making and supplying premium compost and soils to professional growers across the country since 1992, and all ingredients used in our products have been approved for certified organic production.
This is an entry level position that provides room for professional growth to candidates actively seeking to expand their skill set. The Crew Member provides assistance to multiple departments including Fulfillment (packaging/palletizing soil products), Food Residuals (washing collection totes), and Egg Production (packaging). The Crew Member will operate mechanical packaging and wash system equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Success in this role will require the ability to work effectively in a team environment, a willingness to work in various weather conditions, and the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs. Preferred qualifications for this position include two – five years of experience in production, warehouse and/or fulfillment operations, knowledge of heavy equipment and capabilities, and knowledge of mechanical systems and compost making practices; however, candidates with any combination of experience and skills likely to provide the skills, knowledge and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.
This is a part-time position with a pay range of $18 – $22 per hour plus a generous benefits package including health and dental insurances; a Simple IRA retirement plan with company match; short and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; an Employee Assistance Program; employee-pricing; and paid time off. Full time and seasonal positions may also be considered. The position is based in Montpelier, VT and most work will be performed during regular business hours, Monday – Friday.
