As the Product Owner for Financial Systems, you will bridge the gap between finance operations, business strategy, and technology delivery. Operating in an agile environment, you will define and execute the product vision for mission-critical financial platforms, maximizing economic value while maintaining fiscal integrity, scalability, and automated accuracy.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional agile teams, executive business stakeholders, and systems analysts to continuously modernize and optimize a vast financial ecosystem. Key Responsibilities
- Product Vision & Roadmap: Define, champion, and execute the product vision for financial systems, ensuring strong alignment between evolving retail business goals and technical capability.
- Agile Leadership: Guide cross-functional delivery teams through sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery of user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Process Modernization: Identify, introduce, and implement modern tools, workflows, and automated practices that streamline financial processes and enhance user experience.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the strategic liaison between business owners and technical teams, translating complex financial needs into actionable system requirements and explaining technical trade-offs in plain language.
- System Design & Optimization: Ensure financial systems are scalable, stable, and secure while overseeing configuration on application front-end and back-end platforms.
- Team Development & Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate training, build internal competency, and mentor business and systems analysts within a collaborative, supportive workspace.
Requirements
Must-Haves (Essential for Consideration)
- Education: A relevant degree combining Business, Finance, Information Systems, or Technology.
- Systems & Process Acumen: Solid foundation in finance processes, business system design, and continuous optimization.
- Agile & Delivery Experience: Proven hands-on experience producing detailed software documentation—including Agile user stories with acceptance criteria and Waterfall Business/Functional Requirements Documents (BRD/FRD).
- Technical Communication: Ability to communicate technical concepts, trade-offs, and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- System Configuration: Practical ability to handle front-end and back-end application configuration (non-developer configuration).
- Tools: Proficiency with Google Workspace and MS Office suite (including MS Project).
Nice-to-Haves (Beneficial Advantages)
- Certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), or related Agile certifications.
- Financial Background: Formal degree or qualification in Financial Accounting.
- Leadership Experience: 5+ years leading or mentoring teams of Business and Systems Analysts.
- Industry Experience: Domain experience in large-scale retail finance environments.
- Enterprise Tools: Hands-on experience with enterprise ERPs (SAP or Oracle Finance), financial reporting solutions, and Jira.
