We’re Hiring: Product Development (Category) Manager – Johannesburg
📍 Head Office Based
Location: PNA Franchisor Office, Weltevredenpark, Roodepoort.
We are looking for a dynamic and commercially experienced Product Development / Category Manager to join the PNA team. This role is ideal for an experienced product, category, or retail professional who is passionate about product innovation, market trends, supplier relationships, and driving strong retail performance across a franchise environment.
As Product Development / Category Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and executing our product and category strategy, ensuring that PNA remains relevant, competitive, and aligned with customer needs across stores and omni channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving product range development, category strategy, and product innovation.
- Conducting market, competitor, and trend research to identify growth opportunities.
- Negotiating with suppliers and supporting the development of PNA private labels.
- Supporting franchisees with product sourcing, store performance insights, and merchandising guidance.
- Collaborating with internal teams to support promotions, e-commerce, and strategic business objectives.
Requirements & Experience
- A diploma, degree, or relevant qualification in Business, Marketing, or Commerce.
-Stationery buying experience advantageous.
-Private Label experience advantageous.
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a similar product, category, buying, or retail-focused role.
- Strong analytical ability, commercial awareness, and meticulous attention to detail.
-Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights, and strong reporting skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint.
- Willing to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Language: English with a working understanding of Afrikaans.
- Valid driver’s licence
