Produce Buyer Jobs in Kahului, HI at VIP Foodservice
Aloha from VIP Foodservice! We’re a local, family-owned company dedicated to serving our Maui County for business and family needs. Our foodservice division serves a diverse base of over 760 operators, including resorts, restaurants, grocery stores, healthcare, and schools. In addition, we have Island Grocery Depot, our retail division, with locations in Kahului & Lahaina, offering a variety of local and national branded products for Maui families and visitors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Procure all local produce items
- Manage special orders
- Fill shortages with local products and vice versa
- Communicate and resolve shortages
- Coordinate shipments with the Receiving department
- Inspect shipments for quality and address quality issues with suppliers
- Maintain inventory levels to meet service goals
- Minimize spoilage through collaboration with Sales and IGD stores
- Address discrepancies and rotation issues
- Stay informed on HAACP procedures and food safety alerts
- Collaborate with Operations on produce recalls
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in purchasing and inventory management in a wholesale distribution environment
- Produce knowledge helpful
Minimum Requirements
- Well-organized and a self-starter
- Computer proficient
- Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing work demands
- Work cooperatively with diverse groups
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
As this is an exempt, salaried position, work schedules will vary depending on the demands of the position.
