The Processing Department operates within a pharmaceutical-grade facility, strictly adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and managing all post-harvest activities involved in transforming fresh cannabis to the final packaged product.

The Processing Supervisor is a key player in the department, responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring the production of high-quality cannabis products. This role involves managing a team of up to 30 processing workers, ensuring strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and supporting the Processing Manager and Deputy Processing Manager in achieving production goals.

JOB BASICS

  • Permanent & Full-time.
  • On location in Vanwyksdorp (we provide subsidised housing and a relocation allowance).
  • Salary between R14,000 and R17,000. (Depending on qualifications and experience.)
  • Start as soon as possible.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Production Supervision:

  • Support the Processing Manager and Deputy Processing Manager in meeting production targets and maintaining product quality.
  • Supervise and coordinate the daily hand-trimming of cannabis flowers, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Oversee and coordinate the processing stages, including harvesting, drying, curing, and other post-harvest activities.
  • Manage packaging processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards.
  • Administration: Drafting and implementation of SOPs and completion of quality-related documents

Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement:

  • Regularly analyse production data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as output, quality, and efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies through data analysis, and implement strategies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with senior management to adjust processes based on performance trends and insights.

Quality Control and Record Keeping:

  • Ensure accurate completion and maintenance of all production records in line with company policies.
  • Continuously monitor product quality throughout processing stages, addressing issues promptly to maintain high standards.

Team Supervision:

  • Supervise a team of up to 30 processing workers, fostering a positive work environment, promoting a strong work ethic, and ensuring discipline.
  • Monitor and enforce SOPs across all processing activities.
  • Encourage collaboration and effective communication within the team.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment by enforcing health and safety regulations and best practices.

Training and Development:

  • Assess team skills and identify gaps, providing targeted training and development opportunities for both workers and other supervisors.
  • Drive continuous improvement through training programs designed to enhance overall team performance.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with procurement and materials management to ensure uninterrupted production operations.
  • Oversee waste management practices, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.

Operational Flexibility:

  • Be available to assist or lend expertise to other departments as needed to meet operational needs and support strategic company goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of processing activities into the broader operational framework.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is essential; tertiary education is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and general computer literacy is required.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a production or processing environment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of or strong interest in learning about cannabis production.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high product quality.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to analyse production data and use insights to drive improvements in productivity and efficiency.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capability to motivate and develop staff.

RELOCATION

  • It’s a requirement to work full-time on-site. This means relocating to the Klein Karoo in the rural Western Cape.
  • It’s an advantage to have your own vehicle, but this is not a requirement.
  • We would assist in securing suitable and affordable rental housing.
