Pole Shop Operator – 2nd Shift Jobs in Christiansburg, VA at Current Lighting Solutions
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Pole Shop Operator to join our team on the 2nd shift. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently operating and maintaining pole manufacturing equipment, ensuring high-quality production standards are met. Your expertise in machine operation, metal fabrication, and safety protocols will contribute to the smooth flow of our manufacturing process. Duties
- Operate various manufacturing machines including CNC laser cutters, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, press brake machines, plasma cutters, and electrical discharge machining equipment to produce poles and related components.
- Set up and calibrate machinery accurately based on technical drawings and specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers and other precision measurement tools.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to ensure proper fabrication and assembly of parts according to design standards.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot issues promptly, and ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards in production environments by following safety protocols, wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and maintaining a clean workspace.
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measurement instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances meet specifications; document inspection results accurately.
- Assist with metal forming processes such as bending, forming, and welding to assemble pole sections; utilize hand tools and fabrication equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating manufacturing machinery such as CNC laser cutting systems, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, stamping presses, or similar equipment in a production setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints effectively.
- Familiarity with shop math, basic math skills necessary for measurement calculations, and understanding of safety standards in manufacturing environments.
- Certification or experience with forklift operation is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, forming machines, plasma cutting, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and tooling setup is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently on the 2nd shift with a focus on precision measurement in machining and metal fabrication processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills; committed to maintaining high quality standards throughout production.

Pay: From $20.88 per hour
