Primary Objective of Position
Continuously maintain the highest standard of cleanliness for our guests, our visiting neighbors and your fellow Employees to ensure the overall success of the Canopy Portland Waterfront.
Essential Functions
- At the start of shift, walk through public and shared spaces to make notes on what items need restocking. (paper towels, hand soap, garbage bags, etc.)
- Do a quick clean of places that are not tidy including removing any debris on the floors
- Each day follow public areas checklist for the areas as listed below:
- o Fitness Centero Canopy Central Lobbyo Guest Retreato Salt Yard Lounge, Bar and Restroomo Transfer Loungeo Empty Meeting Roomso Meeting Hall Restroomso Luna Lounge, Bar and Restroomo Employee Locker Roomo Employee Retreat
Supportive Functions
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the requirements of the hotel:
- Support others in your department and other departments as assigned
- Observe and provide excellent customer service as opportunities arise
- Engage in friendly, professional conversations with our guests, our visiting neighbors and
- your fellow employees

Safety and Security
- Be knowledgeable of policies regarding emergency procedures and security concerns
- Be knowledgeable about and the use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Be knowledgeable about harassment in the workplace and appropriate reporting steps
- Follow key safety procedures including for key fobs, key cards and digital room keys
- Always ensure the confidentiality and protection of personal information of our guests
- and coworkers
- Properly use cleaning equipment and chemicals only as intended
- Should be able to identify and address deficiencies in cleanliness and safety standardsand notify appropriate team members of same
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must be able to communicate in and understand English as the primary language used in the Public Spaces used by our guests and visitors
- Additional languages a plus
- Ability to be focused and self-motivated; there is minimal supervision.
- Ability to participate as a part of a team
Physical Demands
- Most work tasks are performed indoors
- Must be able to move up to 25 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a
- timely basis
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
- Must have finger dexterity to be able to be able to complete tasks
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent. Two years of work experience is a plus, preferably in a hotel environment.
Grooming
All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Property Standards and must dress in professional appropriate attire.
