Position: Small Plant Operator
1. Hours of work: 40 Hour, 5 day week.
2. Shift Work: Not applicable.

Standby where applicable.
4. Locomotion: N/A.
5. Protective Clothing: As per PPE.
6. Overtime: Category-II (D).
Job Purpose:
To provide labour of a basic skilled nature.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Performs general labouring tasks i.e. receiving instructions to prepare the work site, shoring of joint bays and trenches.
Excavates and back-fills trenches and joint bays to defined levels using hand held tools.
Pulls and lays cables up to 132kV and compacts cement mixes and soil to reinforce structures.
Cleans and removes blockages, debris and alien vegetation that interfere with overhead lines and cables.
Assists in loading and off-loading of all types of vehicles.
Performs tool and equipment storage and care functions.

Minimum Requirements:
An appropriate level of primary education.
Certificate of competence in the operation of small plant and equipment or to be obtained within 6 months from date of appointment.
6 Months relevant experience.
Preferred Requirements:
An appropriate level of secondary education.
1 Year relevant experience.
