Position Overview
ENGIE Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee renewable energy facilities in the Northern Cape / Free State regions (Graspan & Grootspruit). This permanent role reports to the ENGIE Southern Africa Operations Director and involves managing solar, wind, and hybrid projects to ensure optimal operational efficiency, safety, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety: Ensure safety of personnel, contractors, and visitors, enforce safety rules, coordinate emergency responses, and manage site security.
Asset Performance: Oversee daily operations and maintenance, optimize performance, manage contractors, analyze root causes of issues, and ensure grid code compliance.
Stakeholder Management: Represent ENGIE in the community, manage stakeholder relationships, and lead social and enterprise development initiatives.
Site and Infrastructure Management: Manage site access, utilities, waste removal, and site upgrades.
Reporting: Regularly report performance metrics to stakeholders and oversee monitoring systems.
Budget and Procurement: Manage annual budgets, oversee procurement activities, and handle supplier invoicing.
People Management: Set performance goals, manage personnel development, lead recruitment, and oversee performance management processes.
Qualifications and Experience
University Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Management qualification (MDP) and professional registration with ECSA.
8-10 years’ experience in solar PV / Wind operations and plant management.
Leadership, budgeting, contract management, and safety system knowledge.

Internal: ENGIE HQ, support teams, project and operating companies.
