Our client is looking for a Payroll & Benefits Officer to join their team.

Purpose of the Job: The incumbent will assume responsibility for the full payroll and benefits function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of monthly payrolls in accordance with legislative requirements and company policies. The role also involves maintaining employee records and communicating effectively with staff regarding payroll and benefits matters.

Role and Responsibilities:

Improve payroll policies and procedures as needed.

Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements.

Ensure payroll operational effectiveness.

Manage and administer all employee benefits and payroll administration.

Payroll Administration:

Manage end-to-end payroll for over 700 employees, including weekly and monthly payrolls.

Maintain payroll system and records.

Prepare and coordinate monthly payroll inputs from various divisions.

Process new hires, terminations, salary changes, and expense claims.

Handle tax codes, statutory payments, overtime, and related documentation.

Manage contributions and claims for pension, provident fund, medical aid, and garnishee orders.

Draft certificates of service and employment confirmations.

Ensure employees have access to payslips and manage IRP5 processes.

Support the finance department with payroll administration.

Reconcile payroll data and ensure accurate deductions and submissions, including SARS and UIF filings.

Assist with Employment Equity and Skills Plan reporting.

Manage disability claims, provident fund withdrawals, and death claims.

Payroll Reporting:

Maintain payroll data on Sage 300 People system.

Prepare and review payroll reports, including year-end and ad hoc reports.

Update payroll trackers and ensure reports are audit-ready.

Assist auditors with payroll-related inquiries.

Query Management:

Respond promptly to payroll queries within 48 hours.

Provide guidance on payroll policies, benefits, and HR procedures.

Assist employees with payroll record updates and related questions.

General:

Maintain filing systems for payroll documents.

Provide administrative support within the HR team as needed.

Requirements:

Mandatory

Qualifications:

Matric / Diploma in Business Management, Finance, HR, Accounting, or related field.

Desirable

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, HR, or related area.
