Open Position: Customer Service Representative
We are a busy ophthalmology practice looking for a friendly and energetic customer service representative for our Salina office. To be successful, you will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Medical office experience is preferred, but will train the right individual!
Job Description:
- Answering phone calls and making appointments
- Following our procedures for check-in and check-out.
- Check faxes and emails throughout the day, confirm appointments via phone, check voicemails, and work on preparing for the next day.
- Scheduling return appointments and set up reminder notifications for future appointments.
- Collect copays and balances and enter correctly into patient charts.
- Follow our procedures for collecting insurance cards and checking eligibility.
- Provide excellent customer service as well as screen and forward incoming phone calls as needed.
- Occasionally assisting with other duties as needed, such as performing various ophthalmic diagnostic testing or assisting in the optical department.
- Sort and distribute office mail.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in an efficient manner with high level of quality and energy.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
- Must have the ability to establish confidence and trust with patients.
- Apply exceptional communication skills to interact with patients and schedule appointments.
- Must have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure or stress.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
Education and experience requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma required.
- Minimum of one-year medical front desk experience preferred.
- Ophthalmic experience is desirable but not required.
- Bilingual is a plus.
