PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide legal support and assistance to the VP:
Legal, Risk and Compliance. Foskor is seeking a meticulous candidate with the ability to work independently, under pressure, use initiative and meet deadlines. Excellent English-language communication and writing skills is essential. The candidate must have the ability to collect and prepare documents for legal matters, conduct research on regulations, laws, and legal articles, organize legal information. In addition, the candidate must be able to: (i) prepare for corporate meetings, hearings, and trials;

(ii) draft, format and proof-read legal documents, board submissions, contracts and the like; and (iii) conduct general office administration duties.

Minimum Requirements:

A certificate or Diploma in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution

Paralegal/Legal experience

B Tech or equivalent qualification will be an advantage

Experience:

6 years Paralegal experience in a corporate environment

Knowledge:

A meticulous person with excellent English-language communication and research skills, including report writing skills.

Ability to handle and maintain confidentiality is essential.

Must display a high level of initiative and be pro-active.

Ability to work independently, under pressure and to use initiative and meet deadlines.

Ability to prioritise and have good organisational skills.

Knowledge of and application of relevant legal aspects.

Knowledge of legal procedures, trends and terminology.

Attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Have a driver’s license and be able to travel locally.

Computer literate in MS-Word, Excel and the internet with the ability to use legal research software where necessary.

Drafting documents:

To ensure timeliness and accuracy in completing assignments, legal research and document drafting.

Conduct effective legal research using a variety of sources.

Draft accurate and concise legal documents.

Use of technology tools, such as legal research

Maintaining up-to-date records:

To efficiently manage case files and maintain up to date records.

Put systems in place for organising and storing documents, such as using a document management system or file folders.

Regularly review and update case files as new information becomes available and have a process for tracking deadlines and important dates related to the case.

Managing the diary and mailbox of the VP:
Legal, Risk and Compliance.

Utilizing technology tools, such as case management software, can aid in organising and tracking legal case files and organising running matters in an orderly manner.

Quantity and quality of work:

Responsive and relevant Paralegal services in line with the latest legal and compliance trends.

Benchmark and advice on developing and contemporary paralegal practices.

Setting realistic goals:
Instead of aiming to complete a massive project at once, break it down into appropriate, manageable tasks and deadlines.

Collaboration with Team Members:

Participating in professional development opportunities, such as workshops or training sessions, and bringing back new ideas to share with the team.

Suggesting process improvements or efficiency measures that can help the team work more effectively.

Collaborating with colleagues on projects, sharing workloads and offering help where needed.

Keeping an open mind to new ideas and strategies and contributing your own insights and perspectives.
